Statement 2024
Ashley Wetmore-Caissie (she/her) is a multimedia artist from Barrie Ontario with an advanced education in Fine arts From Georgian College (2020) and a BFA from York University (2023).
An experimental and process-based artist, she creates works inspired by personal history, family origins, fantasy utopias, and monumental life events that have shaped her as a person. Currently, Ashley has a fascination with the process of mortality and human presence. Through a variety of mediums including print, painting, and sculpture, she utilises a transformative process akin to natural progression to translate these themes into visual expressions of human and material experience. In her most recent exhibitions, she has been experimenting with unique methods of display and movement to materially transform the traditional viewing space into a more humanistic one.
Ashley’s artworks will continue to aspire the next artworks for the forthcoming future.
